The acronym is a play on the word "khaki" associated with many internet-driven businesses' casual work attire.
NEOSA's President, James B. Cookingham, spearheaded the creation of this Premier Information Technology Awards Program three years ago with the goal to showcase Northeast Ohio's IT Industry talent. Each year the CAKI Awards recognizes regional technology-based companies that have developed new state-of-the-art initiatives as well as traditional "bricks" companies that have implemented cutting-edge technologies.

Best Manufacturing Web site WebAward - 2003The Web Marketing Association (WMA) was founded in 1997 to help set a high standard for Internet marketing and corporate web development on the World Wide Web. Staffed by volunteers, this organization is made up of Internet marketing, advertising, PR and design professionals from around the country who share an interest for improving the quality of advertising, marketing and promotion used to attract visitors to corporate websites.
Each WebAward entry is judged against a standard of excellence and then against other entries in the category. A certain minimum score must be achieved to qualify for a WebAward. Only one Best of Industry will be given in each category and one Best of Web will be awarded. However, the Outstanding Web Site and Standard of Excellence WebAwards may have multiple winners in each category. If all scores in a particular category are below the standard minimum, no award will be granted for that category.

Best Interactive Holiday CardWow. As far as interactive cards go, Akron"s EYEMG-Interactive Media Group should take a bow. It"s nearly pure genius. Animated caricatures of EYEMG staff members tell the story of "A Very EYEMG Christmas," which is jam-packed with digital goodies. Sean Connery plays Santa Claus. A song parody to Britney Spears" "Oops!...I Did it Again" incorporates backup singers and a dance routine.
Cameos include former veep Al Gore, President George W. Bush and one-time Van Halen front man David Lee Roth. (Who would have thought those three would ever be mentioned together in the same breath?) And someone speaks the line: "Everything is better with beer."
Enough to pique your interest? A CD-ROM links your desktop to very.eyemg.com, where the 10-minute movie is located. Dig a little bit deeper into the site, and you"ll find toy icons that link to more interactive material, including a humorous FAQ, the movie trailer and extra holiday songs sung by staffers in MP3 format.
Move over Charlie Brown, "A Very EYEMG Christmas" may just become the next holiday standard.
Children's Site Receives National Attention We felt honored recently when Medicine on the Net named the Akron Children's Hospital Web site the "most professional-looking" of all the children's hospital sites and the American Academy of Pediatrics named it "The Best of the Pediatric Internet."
